Built like a vault, not a service

STORAGE: one portable vault.dat file — move it, back it up, it's yours
CRYPTO: Argon2id key derivation + XChaCha20-Poly1305 AEAD
UNLOCK: master password or Touch ID; keys zeroized on lock
RECOVERY: 12-word Emergency Kit — shown once, works offline
CLIPBOARD: secrets copy as concealed, auto-clear after 30s

No cloud, no sync servers, no account. Pull the network cable and nothing changes — your secrets live in one encrypted file on your disk.

Secure by construction

The same crypto family as KeePassXC. The master password is never stored; the Rust core zeroizes keys the moment the vault locks.

A menu-bar app summoned with ⌘⇧Space from anywhere. Search, copy, done — it hides itself when you're finished.

Built by one person who wanted this to exist

OwnKeep started as a simple question: why should a password manager need an account, a subscription, and someone else's servers? It's built with Tauri 2 and a Rust core, tested to a 95% coverage gate, and shipped as a plain .dmg. Upgrades never touch your vault — the file lives outside the app, and any data-shape change shows you a migration guide before a single byte is written.
